Meet Vartek’s Integration Team (or, iTeam, for short). Led by Director – Technology Integration Misty Oerther, the iTeam’s mission is to support teachers in the ever-evolving world of classroom technology. Through co-teaching, lesson planning, just-in-time coaching, and long-term professional development, these integration specialists have been making a huge impact in the classrooms of Vartek’s partners.

Misty Oerther, BS, MEd Education, Post-Graduate Certificate in Online & Blended Learning | Google Certified Educator Levels 1 & 2 | Director – Technology Integration

Misty Oerther leads the iTeam as the Director – Technology Integration. With both a bachelor’s and master’s in education, Misty has experience in both brick and mortar and eSchool K12 classrooms as a classroom teacher, teacher leader, and teacher mentor. She possesses a post-graduate certification in online and blended learning along with experience in administration as content and curriculum developer. Misty has led instructional design efforts at the university level, including the implementation of a new learning management system.  She is a certified Google Educator Level 1, pursuing renewal of Google Educator Level 2. Her background in corporate training has prepared her to lead the design of engaging technology integration and professional development for our partners.

Jillian Matheny, BS Secondary Mathematics Education | Google Certified Educator Levels 1 & 2 | EdTech Leader

Jillian Matheny is the EdTech Leader for Madison Christian Schools in Groveport, Ohio.  She is a Level 2 Google Educator and is pursuing her ISTE Certification. In her role as ETL, Jillian spends her time coaching teachers to introduce and use technology within their classrooms.   Prior to being a tech coordinator Jillian spent 15 years in the secondary math classroom across four different states including Illinois, Georgia, Indiana, and now Ohio.  She has a passion for integrating technology and seeing increased student achievement.

Rick Chase, BS Elementary Education | Google Certified Educator Levels 1 & 2 | Classroom Technology Coach

Rick is a Classroom Technology Coach at Hamilton City Schools. He holds a Bachelor’s in Education from Bemidji State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Education in Educational Technology. Rick has several years of experience teaching elementary and middle grades in the online environment, allowing him to participate and lead many technology and technology integration pilot programs for the Ohio Department of Education. Rick is excited to bring successful coaching in technology integration and curriculum instruction.

Katie Coomes, BS Middle Childhood Education | Google Certified Educator Levels 1 & 2 | Classroom Technology Coach

Katie Coomes is a former middle school math teacher turned Classroom Technology Coach. Katie is currently coaching teachers in the Milford Exempted Village School District. She earned her Bachelor’s in Middle Childhood Education at the University of Cincinnati. Additionally, Katie is a Google Certified Educator and is currently pursuing her Google Coach Certification. Katie discovered her passion for integrating technology while teaching math at the middle school level. She quickly found that technology was an excellent tool to engage her students and provide deeper learning experiences. Katie is excited to coach in the same district she taught in and guide teachers to meet their teaching and learning goals.

Cara Deaton, BS Early Childhood Education | Google Certified Educator Level 1 | Classroom Technology Coach

Cara is a Classroom Technology Coach at Milford Exempted Village Schools. She has a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Her years of teaching second grade and Title 1 math provided her with the experience and passion for utilizing technology inside the classroom. Cara is enthusiastic about assisting others in discovering engaging technology that can cultivate an environment in which students can grow to their full potential.

Lindsey Humphreys, BS Middle School Math and English Education | Google Certified Educator Levels 1 & 2 | Classroom Technology Coach

Lindsey Humphreys is a Classroom Technology Coach at Milford Exempted School District. She has a Bachelor’s in Middle Childhood Math and English Education from Xavier University. After years of experience in the classroom, and a pandemic forcing her into a crash course in remote teaching, Lindsey plans to help other teachers incorporate technology into their classrooms. Lindsey’s aim is to make teachers’ lives easier by guiding them to the best resources.

Christine Jesse, BS Middle Childhood Education, MS Curriculum and Instruction | Google Certified Educator Levels 1 & 2 | Classroom Technology Coach

Christine is a Classroom Technology Coach at Sidney City Schools in Ohio. Christine has ten years of middle school classroom teaching experience at a district in South Carolina. Christine has a Bachelor’s in Middle Childhood Education Math and Social Studies, and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, Christine has her Google Educator Level 1 and 2 certifications. In her current role, Christine is helping launch the district’s new LMS by providing coaching and training, as well as technical support, to teachers throughout the school year.

Kerry Keiser, BS Secondary Language Arts Education, MS Education Curriculum and Instruction | Google Certified Educator Level 1 | Classroom Technology Coach

Kerry Keiser is a Classroom Technology Coach for Sidney Middle and High Schools. Kerry has 20 years of high school classroom teaching experience, most recently at Franklin Monroe High School. Kerry has a Bachelor’s in Secondary Language Arts Education, and a Master’s in Education Curriculum and Instruction. Kerry has been a Sidney resident since 2007 and is active in the community. In her role, Kerry supports Schoology implementation and directly supports teachers through technology integration coaching, professional development, and just-in-time training.

Veronica Lawrence, BS Mathematics | Google Certified Educator Level 1| Classroom Technology Coach

Veronica is a Classroom Technology Coach at Hamilton City Schools. She holds a Bachelor’s in Mathematics with a Minor in Professional Education from Xavier University. In addition, Veronica has a valid 7 – 12 Integrated Mathematics Teaching License and is a Google Certified Educator Level 1. She has several years of experience teaching mathematics in the secondary setting through the public school system. Teaching during the pandemic gave Veronica ample experience in teaching in a virtual setting and integrating technology into all aspects of everyday lesson plans. She is excited to bring creativity and passion to assisting teachers with meeting their goals.

Joey Legg, BS Music Education | Google Certified Educator Level 1 | Classroom Technology Coach

Joey is the Classroom Technology Coach at El Dorado School District in Arkansas. Joey has spent several years in technology management roles, including Network Administrator and IT Director. His Bachelor’s in music education combined with his technical experience has made him an invaluable member of the El Dorado team as he is able to bridge the gap between technology and the classroom. With specialties in Google Classroom, as a certified Google Educator Level 1, classroom A/V solutions for integration, and video editing, Joey is a strong coach and facilitator for technology integration.

Mia Pomales, BS K-8 Interdisciplinary Studies | Google Certified Educator Levels 1 & 2 | Classroom Technology Coach

Mia is a Classroom Technology Coach at Hamilton City Schools. She holds a Bachelor’s in K-8 Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Governors University and is currently pursuing a MAEd in Leadership in Technology for Teaching and Learning from Baldwin Wallace University. Mia has been a school administrator, K-8 teacher, and marketing and technology director since 2013. Over the course of her career, she discovered a strong passion for educational technology. Mia is thrilled to be part of Vartek’s iTeam where she can put that passion to use and help other educators discover and develop their own love of EdTech.
